During the bus tour (1,5 hours) there are 3 stops with 10 minutes exit for sightseeing: the Aurora cruiser, St. Isaac's Cathedral, the Arrow of Vasilievsky island (WC is available at this stop).
Next, we shall visit the “Pearl of the Northern Capital” - the luxurious Yusupov Palace, whose history began in the XVIII century. The famous mansion used to be the home for five generations of the richest family of Yusupov princes. Being the owners of 57 palaces, they turned the mansion on Moika into a place that can only be compared to the Royal residence for its grandeur.
The Palace complex was being created for almost two centuries. Prominent Russian and foreign architects worked here. Not only the state apartments, the halls of the art gallery, and the miniature home theater survived in the Palace, but also the luxurious living quarters of the Yusupov family, which retained the warmth and charm of their former owners.
During the tour, you will be guided through the state rooms and living quarters of the Yusupov Palace, and the Art gallery.
You will see the elegant interiors of the Tapestry drawing room, the Grand drawing room of Prince Yusupov, the White-columned Hall, the Precios Hall, the dance hall and visit the magnificent miniature Yusupov home theater, where the entire theatrical Petersburg gathered. Such famous performers as Franz Liszt, Polina Viardo, Fyodor Chaliapin, and Anna Pavlova appeared on its stage. Mikhail Glinka, Alexander Dargomyzhsky, Hector Berlioz, and many others were conducting here. The Yusupovs' musical salons and theatrical productions gathered high-ranking guests, including members of the Imperial family.
The guide will tell you about the bright representatives of the aristocratic family of Russia, as well as about the scandalous history of the Palace, where the murder of Grigory Rasputin, Tsar Nicholas II favorite, took place. The tragedy happened on December 17 night, 1916, in the residential rooms of the young Prince Felix Yusupov. Now the exhibition "The Murder of Grigory Rasputin" has been created in these rooms, which we shall definitely visit during our tour!
