We invite you to take part in our tour devoted to the blockade days in Leningrad during the World War II.
The siege of Leningrad (the modern-day St. Petersburg) lasted almost two and one-half years and cost the lives of an estimated 1,000,000 city residents. It began on September 8, 1941 when German troops completed their encirclement of the city. As his blitzkrieg rushed towards Moscow, Hitler made the strategic decision to bypass Leningrad and strangle the city into submission rather than commit valuable resources to attacking it directly.
During the tour you will visit the Blocade Temple and the Church, the house of Tanya Savicheva, a monument to the young heroes of the city's defense in the Tauride Garden & hear the stories of heroic defense of the city during the Great Patriotic War.
Then you will continue the excursion by visiting the Piskarevskoe Memorial Cemetery where you will see the memorial to “The Motherland” and a lot of common graves in which about 500 000 people were buried during the blockade. It is the biggest cemetery created in the years the World War II (marked in Guinness Book of Records).
