• Karelia is a republic situated in North-West Russia. It is well-known as one of the most beautiful places in the country. Here you can enjoy the wonderful nature with its lakes, waterfalls and giant cliffs with trees growing on them. The mountain park “Ruskeala” is one of the most beautiful places in the region. Marble used for constructing lots of buildings in St. Petersburg has been quarried here since the 18th century. Nowadays, it’s a tourist centre whose main attraction is a former marble quarry which is now a lake with crystal clear water. Tourists can rent a boat, go diving or enjoy the nature while riding a horse, to play with friendly dogs - husky! During your stay in Ruskeala Mountain Park you will admire beautiful nature & relax. You will also experience the history of mining, will see the ruins of the plant, will visit the waterfall, where were filmed many famous movies . Petrozavodsk city

• The capital and the biggest city of the Republic of Karelia is situated in the North West of Russia on the bank of the second largest fresh water lake in Europe – Lake Onego. Thanks to the system of rivers, lakes and canals the capital of Karelia has access to the Baltic, White, Barents, Caspian and Black Seas. That is why Petrozavodsk is often called the port of five seas. One of the most beautiful places of the city – the Onego embankment – stretched out along the shore for a few hundred meters.
  

Kivach Reserv & waterfalls

• The nature reserve was named after "Kivach" waterfall, known in Russia since the time of  Derzhavin. Thanks to the waterfall the nature reserve has such a unique look. The waterfall has been a point of interest in Karelia and has been often visited for already 3 centuries. Water flow has four stages, total height of them is about 11 m. Diabase rocks serve as a magnificent background to the flow of water. The word "Kivach" in Russian means either "stone" (from Fin. kivi), or "snow mountain" (from Kar. kivas). 
  

Alexander - Svirsky monastery

• Alexander - Svirsky monastery - Russian Orthodox monastery situated deep in the woods (in Leningrad region). The golden age of this cloister falls in the 17th century. It was founded in 1487, when a monk of the Valaam Monastery, named Alexander, settled between Roschinsky and Holy lakes, 20 km to the east from Lake Ladoga and 6 km from the Svir River. During his life in the woods, he had a vision of the Holli Trinity who ordered him to build two oaken chapels dedicated to the Trinity and the Saviour's Transfiguration. These churches gave birth to the twin Trinity and the Transfiguration cloisters, collectively known as the Alexander Svirsky Monastery. You will see the unique frescoes which is over 300 years old and relics of St. Alexander Svirsky. You are welcome!
