The tour will start in the heart of St. Petersburg - in Vladimirsky area. We shall look at the houses’ stucco molding facades and original oak front doors.
To feel the atmosphere of the Northern capital, we shall visit an apartment building of the 19th century. It is distinguished by the rich exterior decoration and bizarre interiors of the front hall: staircases forged railings, stained glass windows, and well-preserved Metlah tiles. All apartments in the house are still communal (shared). We can look into one of them!
Our program includes a visit to the Dovlatov’s Leningrad shared rooms on Rubinstein street. The writer jokingly mentioned it in "Stories from a suitcase": "a long, dull corridor metaphysically ended into a toilet room." During the tour over the flat, you will get acquainted with its residents, learn how the daily life of the inhabitants of Leningrad "multi-family homes" was organized, and be amazed at the contrast of Soviet life and fragments of older interiors. We will get into the apartment through the front door, and leave through the half-abandoned back door - a real adventure through the most exotic places of St. Petersburg!
